"When I'm sculpting, I think about carving in the round since we express ourselves 360 degrees, so in this piece, I hope that you get a sense of the gesture no matter how you're looking at the piece.

" I always use live models and for this piece, I used three models — my two granddaughters and Ashley's daughter. When I work with models, I don't dictate every pose. I give general direction, then I like to see how they express themselves. I take different parts of their poses to form the figure..."

"With this figure, I want to communicate to viewers to not feel like you're wasting time when day-dreaming. It's okay to be lost in thought; it's okay to let your mind wander. For me, this is where creativity occurs. So this piece can be a little reminder to take a moment, and carve out time for peace and tranquility." susan-lordi-signature
